MITCH BALL RESP
MAKE A DONATION TO THE BALL FAMILY REGISTERED EDUCATIONAL SAVINGS PLAN
On May 1, 2021 our dear friend and respected colleague, Mitch Ball, passed away due to complications arising from a COVID infection leaving behind his wife Jana and 6 children. The Provincial Umpire Committee of Baseball Alberta proposes to establish a Registered Educational Savings Plan support Mitch and Jana’s eligible children to pursue their educational goals after high school.
For those that may be unfamiliar with the RESP program details can be found at: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/education-savings/resp.html
We see this as a way to support Mitch’s family and honor his memory in a specific way that will have a lasting impact. We invite all members of the baseball community in Alberta, and indeed from across Canada, to participate in this endeavor. We also invite officials from Mitch’s other sports officiating communities to join with us in this endeavor. Consider joining at any level of a three tier program of annual contributions to the fund.
Level 1 Sustaining Benefactors
Will commit to making annual contributions of at least $500/yr.
The annual appeal for donations from this group of donors will begin each year on May 1 as we
commemorate Mitch’s passing and last until the end of the month.
Level 2 Impact Contributors
Will commit to making annual contributions of at least $200/yr.
The annual appeal will be made during the baseball season.
Level 3 Friends of the Programme
Will commit to making annual contributions perhaps in the order of a single (or more) game fee.
The annual appeal will be made during the baseball season.
In considering your participation in this endeavor, there are some things you should know:
It’s not a lifetime commitment on your part. It only lasts until his youngest child (currently aged
9) reaches the age of 21.Your contributions are not tax deductible, consequently receipts will not be issued.
Of course you can drop out of the program or change your commitment level any time.
Any funds that are still unused after the eligibility period for all beneficiaries have expired will
revert to Jana Ball. Earnings on those funds will be taxable in her name.
