NUCP CLINICS

CLINIC INFORMATION FOR LEVEL 1 AND LEVEL 2 REGISTRANTS

• Clinics will run from 9am - 4pm unless otherwise noted. It is expected that participants begin signing in for the clinic at 8:30am.

• Clinics will contain a half-hour lunch break. Registrants are encouraged to bring a lunch, snacks and drinks.

• Clinics will contain an active portion of the day. Registrants are encouraged to bring comfortable clothing and clean footwear that can be used for activity in a gymnasium.

• Registrants are encouraged to bring their baseball glove and an umpire or catcher mask if they have one.

• Please bring material to take notes with throughout the day.

Can participants attend different level clinics in the same year? For example, take a Level 1 clinic on Saturday and a Level 2 clinic on Sunday.

Registrants are not able to take a NUCP Level 1 and a NUCP Level 2 Clinic in the same calendar year. As of 2016, all provincial associations were required to adopt the new NUCP program. The newly developed program was revised to provide umpires with a consistent training programs throughout the country, and a program that provided a solid foundation for new umpires. The program is outlined as follows:

NUCP Level 1 = 1 Year Program

The Basics

*Level 1 Umpires who are certified and have worked a minimum of 10 games (combination of plate and base) are eligible to register for the NUCP Level 2 certification the following season

NUCP Level 2 = 3 Year Program

Year 1 = Offense

Year 2 = Defense

Year 3 = Game Management

The Baseball Alberta Umpire Committee has made NUCP Level 2 Clinics available to any NUCP Level 1 Umpire who has completed a minimum of 10 games in 2025 (must be a combination of plate and base umpiring) and is looking to advance into NUCP Level 2 in 2026. Please speak to your local Umpire Coordinator to see if you qualify.

The NUCP Level 3 certification requires a prerequisite of three years of NUCP Level 2. The NUCP Level 3 Online Exam is provided to umpires who do not require an in-person NUCP Level 3 Clinic this season. Once registered, the Provincial Supervisor of Umpires will provide the online exam from Baseball Canada. 

REGISTRATION COST:

$102.25

The NUCP Level 3 certification requires a prerequisite of three years of NUCP Level 2. The Level 3 In-Person Clinic will take place on April 11-12, 2026 at Meadowbrook Middle School in Airdrie. Attendees for the in-person clinic are required to attend both days.

If unable to attend this clinic in Airdrie, eligible NUCP Level 3 umpires can chose to forego their in person clinic requirement this season to either 2027 or 2028 and these umpires can complete either the online exam or the online modules after the Baseball Alberta Provincial Supervisor of Umpires gives them permission (after registering and paying their annual fee)

2026 UMPIRE SUPER CLINIC REGISTRATION 

(LEVEL 4 AND 5)

The 2026 Baseball Alberta SuperClinic will be held in Blackfalds at the Abbey Centre. Registration information has been emailed out to all eligible Level 4 and Level 5 umpires.
